Paris in the Fall

As you might have understood by now, I absolutely adore spring and summer in Paris. Or anywhere else really. I’m not the biggest fan of autumn, just because I know what’s coming after that… That dreaded winter. I guess you can’t blame me for these feelings since I’m from Sweden, where the winters are long. Very long. And dark. Very dark. But if autumn could be blue skies, colourful leaves, colder temperatures and then immediately followed by spring I would welcome it with open arms. It’s actually such a beautiful season and the city of Paris can look so incredibly charming during this time. It’s not too cold and not too hot. Just perfect. So what would I love to to during these autumn days in Paris? Well, here are a few options.

Parisian Terraces

There’s something so romantic about this time. Something so cosy. I love to enjoy that last bit of warmth outside while drinking a cup of tea or hot chocolate and watching people walk by. Perhaps they even have to turn on those heaters to keep you warm…

Visit Museums

If the weather gets a little bit chilly, I love spending the autumn days exploring the beautiful museums of Paris. And there are so many! Musée Rodin is my personal favourite and even though I love to come during springtime when all the roses are in full bloom, it’s also incredibly beautiful to visit during the autumn season.

Another museum that would work perfectly for these days is the beautiful Musée National Gustave Moreau, located in the 9th arrondissement of Paris. The colours of this place, along with the artwork, seems as though it was made to be seen during this period of the year. Don’t miss that beautiful (and very photographed) wooden staircase in the museum too.

Musée d’Orsay is also a favourite museum of mine and no matter the season I think it’s wonderful to stroll around there for a few hours.

The Parks of Paris

…But my favourite thing about Paris during the autumn is to watch the leaves change colour and see the parks of Paris turn into a orange, yellow and red-ish wonderland. There’s nothing more beautiful than walking into these gorgeously trimmed parks all covered in warm colours.

A few of my favourite parks in Paris, where you can see the seasons change, are: Jardin du Luxembourg, Jardin des Plantes, Jardin des Tuileries, Place des Vosges and Jardin du Palais-Royal.

If it’s not too cold I love to take away a coffee and stroll through these beautiful places together with my camera or a loved one. Or with a good book or a magazine. There are definitely less people than during those warm summer days and there’s something very romantic about these beautiful parks all covered in these warm tones along with the iconic green garden chairs that you can find in most Parisian parks.
