The last couple of days have been pretty incredible… Sometimes I wonder how I ended up here… Anyway, that’s another story! What I wanted to tell you about now, was how Jaeger-LeCoultre whisked me away to the English countryside for a beautiful experience during these last few days. I think someone must have heard me when I wished for more days in nature and around animals because… I mean, look at this. It doesn’t get better than that! So this experience together with Jaeger-LeCoultre was for their very special watch called Reverso (more about that further down), which was originally created for polo players – therefore the polo experience. See what they did there? Yeah, you get it. We were brought out to this beautiful farm where we had the opportunity to try a bit of polo on our own as well as interact with a few professional players and learn more both about the watch and the sport.

Now you might think “wait a second… That’s not what polo players typically wear when playing polo?” and yes, you’re most definitely correct. But let’s just say that I was living out a personal dream during this day. I have to admit that it was a little bit scary to walk and shoot barefoot next to the horse. I’ve actually been trampled by a horse before (when I used to do horseback riding when I was younger) and it’s certainly not something I would like to have happened again. Luckily (!) I made it through the shoot without any accident and all my toes still on my feet. Phew!

As I previously mentioned the watch “Reverso” by Jaeger-LeCoultre was originally made specifically for polo players. The story goes that a polo player showed his broken watch to the watchmaker after a game of polo and the watchmaker took it upon himself to make a watch that polo players could wear during a game, without breaking it. The idea that came about was the Reverso. A watch which has a face that you actually can turn around to protect the dial of the watch while playing the game. Am I making any sense here? I’m probably not telling it all that well. Maybe Jaeger-LeCoultre can explain it better:

“At the beginning of the 1930s, the watch was born out of a challenge; designing a model that could withstand the polo matches of the British Army officers in India. Its dial smoothly concealed by reversing the case, to reveal a back that fully protects the face from possible strokes.” I feel like that explains what I’m trying to say a bit better! Today it’s one of the most iconic watches out there in my opinion. A true classic. Timeless. Beautiful. And elegant.
