Dior in Venice

As luck would have it, I had the opportunity to go to Venice again, for the third time within a less than one year! Haha, never did I know that this city would become such a frequently visited destination for me. My boyfriend brought me for my birthday in November, then we decided to go back for New Year’s in December and now again in June. But this time it was together with Dior, not my boyfriend. Well, I guess you could call Dior my second boyfriend, haha. Or maybe that should be Italy by now… Either way! Dior and Italy sounds like very good options when it comes to my “second boyfriend”.

I’ve been to this city around seven times now if I try to count my trips without thinking too much but this place never ceases to amaze me… The fact that this city, this place, just rises out of the waters, without any roads for cars, taxis or scooters just blows my mind every single time.

For our first couple of hours together with Dior, we actually left the city centre behind and went outside of Venice to discover their shoe factory and the making of the iconic #JAdior shoe. It was such a privilege to get the opportunity to visit the factory, meet all the people who work with these beautiful products and follow the steps from a drawing to an actual finished shoe! I also had the honour to take over the Dior Instagram account for this special occasion and if you missed my takeover on their Stories, you can still find it among their highlights on their profile. I highly recommend watching it if you’re interested in these kind of things. Did you know that it takes 4 hours (!) to stitch one shoe as they’re not made from. finished fabrics but rather their own stitched/embroidered fabric made in the factory? Anyway, just a little nugget of information.

The occasion for this trip to Venice was not only to learn more about the shoe making process but also to celebrate the new high jewellery collection called “Gem Dior” (get it? Gem Dior? A play on “J’aime Dior”) in a beautiful palazzo in the middle of the city. I always say that what we get to experience at times is just absolutely unbelievable. And even though I tried to take this experience in, I don’t think I’ll ever fully be able to. It was one of the most beautiful dinner settings I have ever seen. Ever. And the fact that we’re just dining two meters from Maria Grazia Chiuri is also something that seems quite crazy if you think about it… For the occasion I wore this gorgeous black Dior gown along with jewellery pieces from the Rose des Vents collection. I was supposed to wear a gorgeous pair of J’adior heels as well but due to the 30 degree heat and 100% humidity my feet had swollen to three times their size by the time it was time to get ready for dinner, haha.

We also had the opportunity to visit the La Biennale di Venezia during one of the days, which I was very excited about since I’ve never been before. If you’re interested in art at all, I think this is a must see if you ever get the opportunity. It was such a lovely space and you could easily have spent hours and hours just walking around here.

For our last night in Venice together with Dior, they brought us to a ballet. I mean. Yeah. No words… The ballet was held in a little theatre in the middle of Venice (decorated in all pink by the way!) and the dancers were dressed in costumes designed by Maria Grazia Chiuri herself. Yeah, it doesn’t stop there. After the ballet was over, we had spritz while watching the sunset over the beautiful grand canal before hopping back into our boats and heading to the location for dinner. The dinner location was just one of the craziest things I think I’ve ever seen. You felt like you were dining in the middle of a museum. Or castle. And I’m pretty sure it was both in some way. Again, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to fully comprehend what I get to live sometimes… But that’s why I love putting together these posts and take photos during these times. So that I can look back at it… And remember. I’m saving this story for my future kids (if I’ll ever have any).
